Welcome to Fly fish Powell River
I thought i would start out this blog with a local pattern that is just killer.
Recipe
Hook: streamer 3x long size 2-10
Thread: Black 6/0 or 8/0 uni thread
Tail: Purple Kyrstal flash
Weight: lead wire .20 mm
Rib: Silver wire(medium or fine)
Body: Black Sparkle chenile
Wing: purple zonker strip
Collar: Natural Pheasant rump
Step 1. Secure your hook in the vice and wrap the lead wire so it cover approximately three quarters of the shank.
Step 2. Start your thread just in front of the lead and securly tie it down.
Step 3. Tie in 4-8 strands or purple Krystal flash.Step 4. Tie in the silver ribbing.Step 5. Tie in the black sparkle chenille.Step 6. Wrap the chenille forward, tie off and trim up at the head of the fly.
Step 7. Tie in the purple zonker strip.
Step 8. Moisten the zonker strip and pull the hairs up wards, then rib the rabbit strip to the front of the hook and trim.Step 9. Tie in the pheasant rump feather.Step 10. Hackle the pheasant rump, and try to include some of the softer fibers for some added action. Whip finish and apply head cement. There you have it the finished Khartoum killer. Here is one of the many fish that have fallen to this deadly pattern.
